Most of these paintings were painted in the California Gold Rush foothills and in Gold Rush towns around Sonora, Murphys, Knights Ferry. Jamestown, Columbia and Angels Camp.  Many of them are painted in plein air, but also painted in my studio from my own photos.  Curving roads that twist their way around the foothills and between the oak trees fascinate me.   Gold Rush towns often have interesting buildings to paint.
