Media: Pastel on gessoed mat board

#902 Shadow and Light This is the 6th in my exploration series of wave pastel paintings. I painted this from a photo I took at Lover's Point in Pacific Grove, CA on the Monterey Bay. This one was painted on mat board I gessoed with clear gesso. I painted an under painting with watercolors using complementary colors. After that dried I began adding pasel to the paper. It is an interesting technique and one I will do again! The under painting can be seen in the 2nd photo along with my photo reference.
